Hat day tomorrow.

Our day started off by going to morning meeting. When we came to the classroom we unpacked and did morning message. Our morning message was about how to carve a pumpkin. We worked on sequencing the steps of how to carve a pumpkin. Next, we watched Mrs. Ray carve a pumpkin. We were able to put our hand in the pumpkin, feel around, and pull out seeds and mush. Kaylee thinks the pumpkin felt gooey on the inside. Kassidy says it felt cool and funny. Ethan thinks the inside feels like honey. Next we named our jack-o-lantern. We voted and the majority wanted his name to be Jack. Reading  centers was next followed by recess and lunch. After lunch we came back to the room and did number corner then worked on graphs.

Some good things about our day:

Laura liked going outside for recess.

Andrew enjoyed PE.

Kaylee’s favorite thing was lunch because she brought her lunch.

Kassidy enjoyed taking the seeds out of the pumpkin.

Daphne liked going to math centers.

The day started out at morning meeting. Then we came to the classroom, unpacked, and did morning message. Today our morning message focused on the fall weather and how it makes us feel. Next we used our resource journal to edit some telling and asking sentences. Then we came to the floor with our dry erase markers and boards and worked on words ending with all, ell, ill, oll, and ull. Reading centers was next. Triana wrote about a fireman, Sam did problem solving pocket chart, Joshua played games at computer, and Dylan did poetry center. After recess, lunch, and number corner we worked on telling the difference between addition and subtraction. The boys were such great CHAMPS that they got to work around the room for this activity. Next was science lab. In science lab we are observing how things change. One station used play do to change colors, another one used paper leaves to blend colors with water, the other stations focused on seasons and how they change. PE was next and we played free centers.

PE tomorrow

We started our day going to morning meeting then we came to the room in a CHAMPS line and unpacked. Instead of morning message we did a coloring contest for the student council. The picture was of a fireman since this is Fire Prevention Week. We will find out who the winners are at a later date. Then we came to the floor and wrote about Kaylee. We learned that her favorite color is pink, pepperoni pizza is her favorite food, and that she wants to be a hair stylist when she grows up. She also has a pet dog named Molly. After writing we did our reading centers where Karson did problem solving, Ryan worked on rhyming words, Sam typed a story about fall, and Morgan listened to stories on the iPod. In math we are starting to work on subtraction so we read the book The Action of Subtraction and used our Mimio to practice making addition sentences. Today was character education and Mrs. Maines taught us about courage. Courage is showing bravery when you are afraid of something. Then we went to the computer lab and worked on a lesson that showed us how to treat a computer. The last thing we did was going to get new library books from the library.

Triana said her day was good because she got to play with her friends at the playground.

Andrew said his day was good because he went to the computer lab and got a prize for getting the high score.

Miguel said the best part of his day was going to the library and choosing a new book.
