The first thing we did today is Kayleigh’s birthday book. Her birthday is on July the 14th but since we are not going to be here then we are making her book now. Then we did centers and the pink groop  got the paw print because they were very quiet and all of them completed their work. After centers the class did bathroom and water and went to recess. It was a sunny day and it was real hot outside. Then we went to lunch and ate delicious tacos, corn, rice, beans, and fruit. We are studying about inventors so we read about the Wright Brothers last week and today about how Amelia Earhart had courage and was brave to fly. We are sad to not know what happened to her. PE was fun because we had to run around and around and grab people’s flags off their waste.

Payton and Brian wrote today’s blog and the class revised and edited it.

This morning was our last CHAMPS assembly. Mrs. Hoyt’s class talked to us about courage. Jada received an award for reading and Payton received an award for writing. Brian received a medium sized R2W shirt. He thinks it looks good on him! First we did centers and the green group got the paw print. After centers we did our spelling test. Right after spelling test we went outside for recess. Gracie thinks today was a hot day at recess! When we got back  from recess we went to lunch. When we got back we read Ally Cat Takes Over First Grade. It was our last champtr in the book. After that we did intientpit reading. Then we went  to P.E and played free play. Khloe says, “Today was a very great day!”

Today we went to reading cnters. Gracie liked making shapes by the computers. During centers we worked on problem solving, identifying nouns, elaborating our writing, and listening to fluent readers read stories on the iPods. After reading centers we worked on our new spelling word, very. We brainstormed more words with that rhymed with very and played a guessing game with them. Mrs. Ray gave us hints then we tried to figure out what the word was and write it on our dry erase boards. During music today we took our own CD’s and lyrics and listened to each others’ favorite songs. After music we had our last character education lesson with Mrs. Maines. We reviewed all the character traits a CHAMP has and listed what we could remember about them. Then we went into math and worked on identifying tens and ones and making numbers with them.

We started our morning off with reading centers. During centers we had to take a time out and go take our class picture. We all smiled big and posed for a funny photo. After our photo we finished our reading centers then we worked on new sight words, know and words. Spelling test is on Friday. Next, we worked on identifying main idea in some paragraphs we read. Then we went to recess where it was HOT!!! After lunch we came back to the room and read Aly Cat. Aly Cat got into BIG trouble today and had to sit on the bench at recess and take a time out. When PE was over we read a book about Benjamin Franklin and all the things he invented. Then we created our own invention that we will be writing about this week. The last thing we did today was working on identifying tens and ones. We are still very busy in the last couple of weeks of school. Continue to read and check folders nightly. End of the year party is scheduled for June 1st from 9:00-10:00.

First thing this morning we went to a CHAMPS assembly and we learned about confidence from Mrs. Smith’s class. Confidence means you can do something when you believe in yourself. Kaeden received an award for writing with diligence, Emily received and award for reading fluency, and Brooklynn received an award for being a car pick up CHAMP. Brian really enjoyed watching the I Can Man during Mrs. Smith’s skit today. Next, we came to the room and did reading centers. Gracie enjoyed reading rhyming poems. One of our groups played games on the iPad today. We are just now getting the iPad and getting to know some educational games. After lunch we read our Who Am I? book that we created in class. Each student had to take a pond animal and create three clues for it. During math we worked on problem solving with addition. One of our problems was a real doozy! But we figured it out. We also worked on identifying tens and ones.

Today we are going to technology. We did not do number corner because we went to see a farmer who showed us all the things we can make farm animals. Then we came in and worked on our writers’ workshop stories. Carter is writing a fiction story called The Magic House. Jada is revising her story about anteaters. Recess was next in our day and it was a great day to go outside. At lunch today we had a silent lunch because we were SO LOUD yesterday Mrs. Koonce could hear in her office. Mrs. Berry said today was much better! When we went to the rug after lunch we read Aly Cat. It is a book about a girl starting first grade and all that goes on is troube. This  afternoon we  went to the libery. Graham checked out The Tale of Jeremy Fisher. We are second place in the Nickles for Nature Center contest. Continue sending coins for our class.

Spelling test tomorrow.

We started our day off with number corner. Logan really liked it when we counted our money. Next we did reading centers and Jada liked writing about her favorite bug, the dragonfly. She named her dragonfly Buzzy. After centers we wrote a birthday book for Haleigh. We each wrote her a birthday greeting and colored a picture for her book. Then we went to recess where it was beautiful outside. Lunch was next and many of us enjoyed delicious chicken spaghetti. After lunch we read books about nouns and discussed different nouns. Since today is Monday we went to PE and played Sheriff and the Posse. Then we came back to the room and read I is for Idea, a book about inventions. We will be creating our own invention and writing about it over the next few weeks. During math we learned a new workplace called Cube Moves.
