Continue to read with your child nightly. The goal is to read with your child each night to expand their reading level, fluency, and comprehension. If the book is too hard please read the book to them. Upon completion of reading please sign and date the reading log. Books will be changed out every two to three days. The connection children see between home and school is very important to their understanding of reading and its purpose. Please read with your child nightly.

If your child stops when reading try one of the following suggestions to get them started again:

* “Go Back.”

* “What would make sense?”

* What do you notice that can help you?”

* “Get it started and say something that would make sense.”

Our goal is to have your child reading and comprehending fluently at a level 16 by the end of the year. Fluently for the end of first grade is at least 60 words per minute.
